Uniting for Alzheimer's Awareness: A Walkathon to Remember

In a heartwarming display of unity and solidarity, more than 200 individuals, families, and community groups recently gathered to participate in the “Alzheimer’s Awareness Walkathon.” Presented by Inhouse Medicare in collaboration with Dementia India Alliance, this event, held on September 21st, 2023, was more than just a walk; it was a powerful statement in the fight against Alzheimer’s disease.

Taking Steps for Awareness

The 3-kilometer route wound its way through the picturesque Race Course Area of Coimbatore, creating a vibrant sea of participants. Their shared mission was simple yet profound: to raise awareness and show support for those affected by Alzheimer’s. The journey began at the Joint Director of Health Service’s Office and culminated at the Cosmopolitan Club, symbolizing the journey that individuals with Alzheimer’s and their families embark upon.
The event was graced by the presence of Thiru. Kranthi Kumar Pati I.A.S., Coimbatore District Collector, who served as the Chief Guest and had the honor of flagging off the walkathon. Joining him were esteemed figures, including Dr. Haseeb Khan, Founder & MD of Inhouse Medicare; Mr. Shyam Viswanathan, Secretary of Dementia India Alliance; and Rtn. C. Rajasekaran, President of the Rotary Club of Coimbatore South.

A Beacon of Hope: The Alzheimer's Medical Camp

Amid the collective footsteps echoing through the streets of Coimbatore, one particular highlight shone brightly: the launch of a FREE Alzheimer’s Medical Camp. This initiative, running parallel to the walkathon, exemplified the mission of raising Alzheimer’s awareness and offering tangible assistance to those in need.
The medical camp provided a space where individuals could receive vital support and information. For many, it was a lifeline, offering not just medical guidance but also a sense of community and understanding.

Gratitude and Unity

Inhouse Medicare and Dementia India Alliance extend their heartfelt gratitude to all those who participated, supported, and contributed to making this event a resounding success. The Alzheimer’s Awareness Walkathon was not just a physical journey but a testament to the strength of community and the collective power to effect change.

Conclusion

The Alzheimer’s Awareness Walkathon was more than just a walk; it was a demonstration of compassion, awareness, and hope. As the community came together to raise their voices against Alzheimer’s, they not only illuminated the path to understanding this condition but also offered support and care to those affected by it. This event serves as a powerful reminder that, together, we can make strides toward a world without Alzheimer’s, where compassion and awareness are our guiding lights.
